Winter is with us so a little time to sit and do another review, this time it is the “Ai Cerchi” in Sarnano. Although this restaurant does in fact serve up some of the best dishes you will find anywhere in the area, it is primarily known for its gigantic pizzas. It lies just outside Sarnano on the way to Amandola but is fairly well sign posted, if you are not sure do take the effort to ask directions it is well worth it.
 When we first discovered it we did order traditional food and it was really delicious, but as we sat enjoying our meal it became apparent why this place was “buzzing” everyone else was ordering just Pizza and wine. Well when we saw the first one arriving it was obvious why, they were just huge and endless varieties of toppings kept coming, topped off with a glass or two of wine (or great beer) and you had as much food as you might manage for about €12 Euro a head or less. even if Pizza does not really appeal as a meal it is worth just going for it the once you will not be disappointed, as the choice seems endless. Another option would be to start with a different course, and if there are two or more in your party a Pizza between two also works well. We do go there whenever we hanker after Pizza as no one else matches up to them, it is a shame really as we seem to pass on some of the other food they serve which is just as good and still comes with a reasonable price tag. As with everywhere there is always a minus, this one comes in the form of “smiler” don’t worry it is just my own nickname for the waiter (son) of the family.
On a bad night he just serves with no sign of being the least interested in what he is doing, but on a good night you may just recognise the merest hint of what may be either a grimace or even maybe a slight smile but only after you have been there on a regular basis. But don’t let this put you off as he is not the only one we see here who is part of a family business, and is not always happy with their part in it, and it does nothing to take away from an enjoyable experience and a good night out at a price that will amaze you. If you decide to try them do not forget to book for the weekends as this place is seriously popular with locals and visitors alike.
